Dr. Wessel assumed the Scoutmaster role in January of 2026 after serving Troop 395 as its Outdoor Activities Committee Chair for two years. Although not a scout in his younger years, the mission, vision and values espoused through scouting intersect with past experiences in outdoor and spiritual education through his local church, communities, and college education. The principles of scouting also connect with his experience studying outdoor education, early career experiences in educational community building, and current profession focused on community conflict resolution at the University of Michigan.
