Connecting a Scout to a Merit Badge Counselor in Scoutbook
For MB Counselors inside the troop who are adult leaders in the troop you may not need to make a connection in scoutbook first. If so, however, those steps are outlined below. To add an adult leader as a MB counselor
| Step # 1: Log-in to my.scouting.org [may require registration] |
| Step #2: Navigate to “Scouting America Weblinks” on top banner |
| Step #3: Select “Scoutbook Plus” |
| Step #4: Log-in to Scoutbook Plus [May require registration] |
| Step #5: Select “Scoutbook” from left side panel |
| Step #6: Under the “my family” section select your scout. |
| Step #7: On the profile page for your scout choose “[your scout] Connections” |
| Step #8: On your scouts connections page find the appropriate adult leader listed and click on their name. |
| Step #9: In the “Relationship to [your scout]” section, check “Merit Badge Counselor” |
| Step #10: You will then get a new drop down menu for “Approve Merit Badges” – Select the appropriate merit badge. |
| Step #11: Click Update |
| Once complete your adult leader will be able to manage MB requirements for your scout electronically in scoutbook. |
For MB Counselors outside of the troop use the following steps to connect a scout. MB counselors inside the troop may also need to be connected this way if not using a blue card for manual completion documentation (or in addition to blue cards). Key admin leaders do not need to be connected (i.e. Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Troop Training Chair, etc.).

| Step #6: Under the “my family” section select your scout. |
| Step #7: On the profile page for your scout choose “[your scout] Connections” |
| Step #8: Click +Add |
| Step #9: Search for Merit Badge counselor [Click “include MBC only” |
| Step #10: Select Merit Badge Counselor to make a connection in scoutbook. |
| Step #11: Click appropriate relationship to scout “Merit Badge Counselor” |
| Step #12: Set Permissions: “Approve Merit Badges” – select appropriate merit badge |
| Step #13: Add an optional Message to the MB Counselor |
| Step #14: Click Invite |
| Once complete your MB counselor will be able to manage MB requirements for your scout electronically in scoutbook. |
